Hello guys, my name is Sam and I am visiting Bristol, a beautiful city at the southwest of England which is full of sexy students, for the first time. My friend Pem is showing me some of the kinky sides of his city and giving me recommendations. Probably his advices can also help you to plan your next trip to Bristol.

sadoSAM: Hi Pem, thanks for showing me around the town where you live. I know you’re into the kinky stuff too. How long have you been living out your desires and how did you come to that?

Pem: I suppose I have been fully committed to the fetish lifestyle for about 12 years now, although it has always been a part of me. I guess I was just nervous of getting started.

Although mostly a top these days I started as a sub and still see my training master in Lisbon at least once a year.

sadoSAM: How do you live out your fetishes and what does appeal to you in s/m?

Pem: My main interests are bondage and electro play, but the repertoire is always expanding. I have a curious mind and am always open to exploring new things.

I also greatly enjoy, rubber, leather and pup training/play.

sadoSAM: Alright, enough talking. It’s afternoon already and I want to see something. Let’s do a little bit shopping. Which fetish stores do we absolutely have to see and why?

Pem: Ok, There is a well established fetish shop in the north Bristol area of Filton called My Only Vice.  It is not exclusively gay, but it’s very friendly,  a real Aladdin’s Cave and great fun to explore.

In the city centre there is a branch of Naughty ‘n’ Nice, a small UK based chain of sex shops. Their loyalty card is a great bonus for regular shoppers like me

sadoSAM: Whoo, shopping can be quite tiring after all. Are there any coffeehouses or bars that are open in the afternoon and that you can recommend?

Pem : I like Boston Tea Party, they have several premises around the city but the original on Park St is still the most popular with students and visitors.

The main gay area is Old Market, between the centre and the railway station, and some bars there will be open during the day.  The Retreat also serves food during the day.

sadoSAM: After those hot guys in the bar I’m kinda horny. Where are the good cruising areas or saunas here?

Pem: The sauna is also based in Old Market, but has recently been sold and is undergoing refurbishment,  so is untested at the time of writing,  but we are promised improved facilities and a total upgrade by the new owners, Lads Locker Room, so are hoping for good things.

There are unofficial cruising areas on the Downs close to the zoo, and Castle Park in the evenings.

Also the woods next to the car park at Junction 18 of the M4 motorway between Bristol and Bath if you are driving.

sadoSAM: I think it’s time to kick around town. Can you tell me which good bars are on the program. What kind of people do they attract and when is it going?

Pem: For the younger crowd The Queen’s Shilling and Proud bar seem to be the most popular, and they both hold special event nights.

For myself, Bristol Bear Bar … BBB is favourite. Although it is billed as the UK’s only dedicated bear bar, there is often a good mix of rubber and leather too, no one gets precious and the atmosphere is always good.

Downstairs at The Retreat holds regular leather events hosted by LeatherWest and BLUFBristol

The Palace and Old Market Tavern are also close by.

sadoSAM: The clubs and parties should be warming up now. What’s on the program and where can we experience something? Are there any returning fetish events running here?

Pem: Gear, a monthly mens fetish night, has been running for 7 years now and is always well attended. It is currently in search of a new venue so check their website for updates.

SWRM, South West Rubber Men and Leather West host regular rubber and leather events and meets, generally at The Retreat or The Palace.

Horseplay is a mixed fetish clubbing event that is  very popular with those into both fetish and music, and if Burlesque is your thing, check out PhyscoDrama.

sadoSAM: Either we are going to play in a sauna again or I’m going to sleep. Can you recommend me a good hotel or a special accommodation.

Pem: Well, as I live here I don’t really use the hotels, but friends tell me Bristol Marriot Hotel City Centre, The Raddison Blue, Hilton Garden Inn, and Doubletree by Hilton are all friendly and good value.
