Growing up in the sunny State of California, Tyler discovered kink through bondage and further dwelved into the community with pup play. He talks to us about his journey to there, and how different kinds of play feel for him.

Hello dear readers, I’m here with a sweet doggo from California today. How’re you doing today Tyler? Can you please tell our readers a bit about yourself: What do you all like, and are you all into? And how did you discover the world of fetish?

I’m doing wonderful today. First off I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to share a bit about myself. I was born and raised around the Bay Area in California. I currently work full time, but I try to make an effort to be as active in the community as I can, which has been especially difficult with both COVID and my personal life.

Gosh, thinking back to how I got into all of this, as long as I can remember, even into my early childhood, I used to love playing pretend (pretending to be animals that is) and play dress up with my younger sister… looking back I find it a bit humorous that many things that I previously didn’t bat an eye at, I can now definitely trace and make connections to what made me who I am today.

One of the most blatant things that comes to mind, was that when I was in middle school, I used to ride dirtbikes. My favorite part of the whole experience to be honest was just putting on all of the gear. I mean, riding a motorcycle was fun and all but I would sometimes just put my dirtbike gear on and stare at myself in the mirror for a good hour because i just really liked the way I looked in it.

The first time I dabbled in kink was much later in my freshman year of college, where a partner I was getting to know expressed in a casual conversation that they wanted to be tied up and restrained. Now I had never done anything like that before, but with my many years of fiddling and fidgeting with pretty much everything I could get my hands on due to my ADHD, I had become quite adept at tying simple knots. On the DL I started YouTubing and doing research on how to properly and safely do the simplest of harnesses, hog ties, and leg columns, and surprised them (with their consent of course) With some of my newly learned skills. Of course it was the roughest ropework I had ever seen, but it was more than enough to get me interested in delving further down the rabbit hole so to speak.

Haha it’s also interesting how people can find similarities even in their memories when they share similar interests 😉 I also have some of these play pretend ones in mine I connect to this kink.

What was it like for you when you started to explore these things more? Did you feel changes in experience and feel from simple vanilla play? What were some of those? And what are some of the “nuances” of play you especially enjoy?

Well see thats in intresting question. To be honest I was quite late to the “losing my virginity” party. I dont want to play THAT card, but I definitly wasnt the ‘coolest’ kid in highschool, so almost all of my sexual experiances begun after I discovered kink; that partner I discussed in your last question was one of my first sexual partners I had ever had. In fact, I had only had one sexual partner before college, and we pretty much mainly sucked eachother off and stuff like that. Funny enough, He was the guy I lost my anal virginity too. I guess you could say kink has almost been a part of my sex life ever since my sex life started.

As far as nuances go, I enjoy both power dynamics and roles, not because they limit and define, but for me it makes scenes and sex with my partner flow better. I try not to take things (other than consent and saftey of course) too serously and just let myself have fun in ways I feel I cannot durring vanilla play. I discovered my love of both being in charge and taking a more subby role. After realising I was on the wrong path and dropping out of college, I discovered more aspects to my kinky side such as my love of impact and other forms of sadist play. I made many friends, joining the furry scene, and after being into both kink and the furry world, it was only a matter of time until I came across Puppy Play.

I’ve heard many stories like that. And also belong late bloomer too and “barely experience before kink” club. Maybe in some part our kind subconsciously gets pulled to it?

What do you love about impact play? And how does puppy play allure you?

Ya know I’d like to think that we were in a way.

Impact play, for both my partner and I at least, is a great way of blowing off steam, stress, and a method of reaching an emotional catharsis in a way. Through the daily grind of work, life, and stress from so many angles, it’s common for emotions and stored negative energy to get bottled up in ways that are difficult to let go of and release.

Impact play is a very direct method of pulling someone into the now and putting all of our external stress and input by the wayside for just a moment. I think when done properly it can be quite therapeutic. Again this plays into your previous question about some of the benefits of kink vs vanilla play… BDSM and kink is not always just about sex, it can can allow for much more if you let it. At the same time, I mean who doesn’t also love a rough spanking during a good fuck??

As far as my journey with puppy play goes, I definitely originally became interested in it due to all the gear. Growing up in Santa Cruz CA one of the surf capitals of the world, neoprene was not something very alien to me, and I always found wetsuits quite a turn on.

The first time I put on a pup hood at Mr S Leather’s store in San Francisco I immediately fell in love with the feeling and knew I just had to buy one even though I knew nothing about puppy play or the community. Rather than having a mentor or an Alpha to learn from, I kind of turned inward towards what I already knew. Playing pretend like I used to… only this time a lot more naked and the “playing” was a lot.. hornier.

It was going to events like moshes, Dore street fair, and Folsom that made me love the community and I have tried to be a part of it as much as my schedule allows. On top of satisfying my gear fettish, puppy play helps me ground myself when I feel anxious or extremely overwhelmed, but more than that it gives me and so many others a community that they feel welcome and safe in. It has a very familial resemblance to it in a way that is difficult to explain.

True, it can let in a whole world of mind-expanding wonders.

And yes, the puppies definitely give many a very more friendly face and atmosphere to the community compared to the image it used to have.

Do you keep certain playstyles separate, or at least more separate than most, from others, or are you more a mix it all up type?

Oh I’m definitly one to mix it up for sure, but it depends on how i am at any given moment. Sometimes all i want is to lie on the bed and be given rubs and pets, and other times I want to pin somebody down and have a good puppy breeding sesh. As I said, I dont have a handler or an Alpha, so this pup tends to live a relitivly unstructured kink life. I tend to just go with the flow and do what feels right. Mixing it up also plays a role in my twitter content, if I keep posting the same stuff over and over again, I start to feel stagnant. Helps keep things fresh.

That actually makes me want to ask: How important do you see social media (aka twitter) for your kink side and play?

It’s actually extremely important to me for many reasons, especially proving so during this pandemic.

As I said I am a very extroverted and social person, and even more so as a pup. If you were to compare me to a real dog, I’d be the one just waiting by the door for my owner to come back home.

Being social is in my truest nature. Because the biggest thing that gets me into the puppy headspace is being around other pups, my twitter has enabled me to continue to connect and interact with the community in a way that would be nearly impossible without it.

Apart from the pup community, if you haven’t noticed, I do love showing off and knowing people get off to my content… i think it’s really, really hot. Not only that, but it does have an empowering feeling for sure and I have noticed an increase in my mental and physical body confidence since I began posting online. I can definitely say with of certainty it’s been nothing but a positive thing for me.

Well I am glad to hear that. Sexuality should be something empowering. Even if you like to be powerless during the act 😜 or show yourself somewhere and own that moment.

Are there things you are currently still exploring for yourself? Or actively want to explore more or try out once?

Oh definitely. There are a couple things that I have only scratched the surface of, but have so much more depth to for me to explore. One of the more prominent and recent things is discovering and exploring my submissive side. My partner topped me for the first time a couple days ago with some of my toys, and we had a blast. I enjoy anal play with dildos and toys, but I had never taken a submissive role like that before as my partner usually prefers me to be the one in charge.

Most of my anal experience is with bad dragon toys durring masturbation sessions. We both had a really good time and let’s just say we will be investing in a strap on harness in the near future.

I also want to expand my skill set with rope and would love to eventually get into suspension play. My partner has some experience as a suspension rope bottom, but my rope knowledge is more floor work and decorative. I would love to eventually find the space and time to learn those kinds of skills, but that might have to wait until we move into an apartment or house with exposed beams.

Hehe well if you can’t wait, some friends I know got a cross fit station for suspension play 😉 or made a “lookalike” one themselves. Surprisingly easy.

Last question. What do you most look forward to once the world has become more normalish again, kinky and/or non kinky 😉?

Once I have more space and a larger apartment I just might have to try that!

For starters, I’m most definitely looking forward to going to events at places like the citadel and SF Eagle. I also can’t wait for kink street fairs and pride to be happening and bumping and full swing again. I love getting to hang out and connect with other pups, and like I said before, it’s playing and interacting with others in puppy space that really makes puppy play so special to me. I’m also so excited to go to conventions with my partner and friends, getting to meet new people and just get to take a break from the daily grind.

Apart from kink, I am just greatly anticipating getting to see people’s faces and smiles on a daily basis. I’m sure I’m not the only person who has felt more detached from others, even during in-person interactions. Hopefully with vaccines becoming more available by the week, slowly we will be able to return to whatever “normal” is.

Yes true, we are all looking forward to that. Though to say, it also made me appreciate the relationships with people I am still able to uphold during the pandemic all the more 🙂 so even in such times, there are joys to find. Thank you for your time Tyler, and I’ll hope we’ll talk again soonish when you got to experience some of these places ;P
